Burgas Airport to Sunny Beach and Nessebar: Transfer, Prices, Times

Flying into Burgas Airport (BOJ) for a holiday on the coast? Nessebar is about 35 km from the terminal and Sunny Beach about 40 km; both take around 45 minutes by car. Below you will find our fixed prices, the route north along the coast, where your driver meets you, how the two places differ and what to plan when you travel with children.

In short

A private transfer takes you from the arrivals hall at Burgas Airport straight to the entrance of your hotel in Sunny Beach or Nessebar, with nobody else in the car and no stops at other hotels. The price is for the whole vehicle, not per seat: 40 € by car for up to 4 passengers to either resort. A family of four pays 10 € per person, and the price stays the same at 3 a.m., on a Sunday or with a pushchair in the boot.

Prices, distance and time

All prices are taken from our Burgas Airport price list. They include the driver, fuel, insurance and road tolls.

Ravda, just south of Nessebar, has the same prices (30 km). Elenite, past Sveti Vlas, is 50 km away and costs 50 € by car. For the trip back to the airport, for groups of more than 8 people (we also have larger buses) and for Sveti Vlas, ask us for the price. Sunny Beach or Nessebar?

Sunny Beach (Slanchev Bryag)

Sunny Beach is the biggest resort on the Bulgarian coast: a long, wide sandy beach lined with hotels, pools, restaurants and bars, and a busy promenade that stays lively until late in summer. It is a favourite with groups of friends and with families who like plenty of choice close to the hotel. The resort is long, so the exact hotel name matters: north, centre and south are several kilometres apart.

Nessebar

Nessebar sits on a small peninsula just south of Sunny Beach. The old town, a UNESCO World Heritage site, is full of stone and wooden houses, old churches and narrow lanes, and the new town on the mainland has hotels and apartments close to the beach. Evenings are calmer than in Sunny Beach, and you can walk along the bay from one to the other. In the old town many streets are narrow or closed to cars; the driver stops as close to your accommodation as the road allows.

The drive from Burgas Airport

Burgas Airport is in Sarafovo, on the northern edge of Burgas, so you do not need to cross the city. The driver takes the coastal road north, passes Pomorie and Aheloy, and reaches the turn to Nessebar after about 35 km. Sunny Beach starts right after it. There is no motorway section and no border on the way; for most of the drive you see the sea on your right.

On summer weekends there is more traffic at the entrances to Nessebar and Sunny Beach, when many guests change hotels on the same day. The driver chooses the best way for the traffic at the moment. If you want to stop at a supermarket or an ATM on the way, just say so.

Meeting your driver

• Meet and greet: the driver waits in the arrivals hall, after passport control and baggage claim, with a sign with your name. You get his name and phone number before the trip.
• Flight tracking: we follow your flight, so an early or late landing is no problem.
• Delayed flight: waiting at the airport is free and has no time limit when your flight is late.
• Pick-up at a hotel (for example on your way home): the driver is there about 10 minutes before the agreed time and waits up to 15 minutes.

When to book

Burgas is the main airport for the southern Black Sea coast. Between May and October many holiday flights land here, and in July and August the airport and the resorts are at their busiest. Book the transfer when you know your flight number, so the right vehicle is waiting for you. We work 24/7, all year round, so night and early-morning landings are no problem.

For the flight home, send us your departure time and we will suggest a pick-up time. Count about 45 minutes for the drive plus a buffer for summer traffic and check-in.

Travelling with children and luggage

• Child seats at no extra cost: infant carrier, child seat and booster. Tell us how many and which ones when you book.
• Car (up to 4): Skoda Octavia or similar, 2 large suitcases.
• Minivan (up to 6): VW Caddy Maxi or similar, up to 4 large suitcases; the usual choice for a family with a pushchair.
• Minibus (up to 8): VW Transporter or similar, room for 8 suitcases; two families travelling together often pay less per person than in two cars.
