What does a transfer from Sofia to Belgrade cost?

320 € for a sedan, 400 € for a minivan and 460 € for a minibus, one way. The price is for the vehicle, not per seat, so four people in a sedan pay 80 € each. It comes from our Sofia and Sofia Airport price lists and is confirmed in writing when you book.

Vehicle Passengers Price, one way
Sedan up to 4 320 €
Minivan up to 6 400 €
Minibus up to 8 460 €

Sofia Airport costs the same. If your flight lands in Sofia and you are going on to Serbia, the driver collects you in the arrivals hall and drives you straight to Belgrade for 320, 400 or 460 €. A Mercedes E-Class or S-Class and buses for groups of more than 8 are on request. The trip in the other direction, from Belgrade to Sofia, is priced separately; ask us and we confirm it before you book.

On a drive of almost five hours, space matters. Four adults with full-size suitcases will be more comfortable in a minivan than in a sedan.

How long is the drive from Sofia to Belgrade?

Around 4 hours 45 minutes for about 400 km, without long stops. The driver leaves Sofia to the north-west, past Slivnitsa and Dragoman, to the border at Kalotina. On the Serbian side the motorway starts near Dimitrovgrad and runs through Pirot and the Sićevo Gorge to Niš, and then north along the main motorway to Belgrade. Almost all of the Serbian part is motorway, so after the border the trip is steady.

Halfway, Niš is a natural place for a coffee or lunch break. Short stops are part of a long drive; for a longer visit on the way, tell us when you book and we fix the extra time and price in advance.

Which border crossing do we take to Serbia?

Kalotina on the Bulgarian side and Gradina on the Serbian side. It is the main crossing between the two countries, on the international road from Istanbul through Sofia and Belgrade to Central Europe.

Serbia is not in the EU, so this is an external Schengen border with passport checks on both sides. For travellers who are not EU citizens, the EU Entry/Exit System adds registration with fingerprints and a photo when they leave or enter the Schengen area. Because the crossing carries a lot of transit traffic, waiting can be longer in summer and around big holidays, when many families drive between Western Europe and Turkey. Most of the time cars move through without much delay. If you have a flight from Belgrade or a fixed meeting time, tell us and we plan the departure with extra time.

What documents do I need for Serbia?

A valid passport, or a valid national ID card if Serbia accepts it for your citizenship. Serbia is not in the EU or Schengen, so the rules depend on your nationality: citizens of many European countries can enter with an ID card, others need a passport, and some nationalities need a visa.

Check the current rules for your citizenship before you book, and make sure every child has their own document. Keep passports and ID cards in your hand luggage so they are ready at the border. Our article What documents do you need for border transfers explains the general rules for trips from Bulgaria.

Where does the driver meet me and where do we stop?

We pick you up at any address in Sofia or at Sofia Airport. At an address the driver is there on time and waits up to 15 minutes. At the airport he waits in the arrivals hall; we track your flight, and if it is delayed, the waiting is free with no time limit. First time at Sofia Airport? Read our Sofia Airport arrivals guide.

In Belgrade the driver brings you to your hotel, apartment or any address in the city. For Belgrade Airport, Novi Sad or another destination in Serbia, send us the address and we give you the price before you book.

Child seats, luggage and groups

  • Child seats are free: infant carrier, child seat and booster. Tell us the number of children when you book.
  • Luggage: big suitcases, bikes, a pushchair or equipment for a trade fair are no problem if we know in advance, so we can send the right vehicle.
  • Groups: up to 8 people in one minibus; for more, a bus or several vehicles travelling together.

Car with a driver or bus to Belgrade

Buses connect Sofia and Belgrade, and for one person with light luggage they are the cheapest way. They run on a timetable from bus station to bus station and stop on the way. A private transfer takes you from your door or the airport straight to your address in Belgrade, at the time you choose. For a family, a group of friends or colleagues on a business trip, it is the most direct way, and the price per person drops with every passenger.
