Plovdiv to Lozenets: a straight road to the southern coast
Lozenets is a small resort on the southern Black Sea coast, between Kiten and Tsarevo. It has kept the feel of a village, with guest houses, villas and a few hotels above wide sandy beaches, and in summer it draws families and young people who want something calmer than the big resorts. From Plovdiv the trip is about 310 km and takes roughly 3 h 30 min without stops.
The route is simple. The driver takes the Trakia motorway east past Chirpan and Stara Zagora all the way to Burgas. After Burgas the road turns south along the coast, past Sozopol, Primorsko and Kiten, and reaches Lozenets just before Tsarevo. The coast road is narrower than the motorway and in July and August it is busy, especially on Fridays and Sundays, when everyone is arriving or leaving. An early morning start makes the last part much easier.
With three and a half hours of driving, one stop is usually enough. A fuel station on the motorway is the usual choice, and the driver knows where to stop. If you need groceries for a week in a villa, it is easier to buy them in Burgas or Sozopol on the way than in the small shops in the village.
